Signing Your Work

A signature on a painting is a critical part of completing a painting. Your signature represents you as an artist. This video discusses some criteria for signing your work.

Master Signatures

In this lecture, we take a close look at some of the signatures of the Masters and see how they signed and where they signed their paintings.

Naming Your Art

Once your painting is signed, the next step is to give the piece a name. There are several approaches to this which we discuss throughout this video.

Another important thing to do after you complete a painting is to document the piece, both on the piece itself and as part of an overall inventory.

Most of us know how to handle a wet painting, but do you know what precautions to take once it's dry, and does it matter? That is the subject of this video.

Storage by Surface

Storage needs are often dependent upon the surface upon which the painting or artwork was created. A work on paper will have different needs than a work on board. This is explored in this video.

Storage is also dependent on the type of paint or dry medium used in the piece. An oil has some different needs than an acrylic which is different from a pastel, for example.
